Really? But…Really?

I, like everyone else, am very pleased that gasoline prices keep dropping. Its nice to give a sigh of relief rather than a gasp of disbelief when I fill up. From over 4 bucks a gallon to less than three it feels like we are livin the life.
Here is what I question though, and I am digressing from the usual financial chat to just think on this one. Why were we ever paying that much and will we just be right back there in 3 to 6 months?
I know I wasn’t the only one who found it interesting when all the big gasoline congalmorates started reporting record sales. “People are just using more gas”, these companies said. I’m sure. Tell that to all my friends who bought bikes, scooters, walked and rode the bus to save money. I know I wasn’t the only one who car pooled, passed up road trips and got a Costco card to save on gas.
Who was the insane person buying more gas?!
I would be surprised if they ever existed. If these prices stay I am guaranteeing that sales are not a “record sales” for this year. Mark my words.
This makes me wonder if we have all just been at the mercy of large businesses that are taking advantage of the common “joe”, who is trying desperately to earn a buck. Here is my financial advice of the day. Watch these companies and lets all make sure that we are not taken advantage of.
People just buying more gas?! Really? Seriously? But…Really?
