Since the stock market is injured with the downturn of the economy people are worried to invest in stocks and options though this is one of the best times to do so. Stocks are not the only investment that is struggling.

Treasury bills are also not doing well and with less than 3% interest they will not keep pace with inflation that should be beyond %4 soon. Property is also low so this is a good time to invest, but that leaves questions about when those properties will be ready to be sold and you can capitalize on your purchases.

These are some of the suggestions about what to do with your money that will be a more secure and money making investment.

Look into high yield bonds. These do not have the same ability for growth that normal stock does, but if a company goes bankrupt they are also wiped out by the company, meaning that the same risk is not taken by the investor. This is an area for investment that investors have overlooked as risky, but which offers a high potential for return.

Also look to the food sector. Food is an area that will always be a necessity even when the rest of the market is low. Things like bio-fuel also spike the market and there are sure to be continued success with other food based products down the road.

One last thought: keep your money available to you as cash. As the market continues to drop, companies are more suspect of credit. For those who have cash ready they can take advantage of the distrust the poor economy breeds. Put your money in a money market account or a bank account that offer 4% or over.
