Save save save. The economy is clearly telling us right now that we as a society have not learned the importance of saving. It’s too bad that we’ve had to learn the lesson the hard way but that seems to be a common theme with people, myself included. In my life I have learned that often the act of commission is easier than the act of omission. It’s easier to text a guy and let him know that I’m interested rather than wait around to see if he is just like it’s easier to spend a dollar rather than put it aside for later when something comes up and I’m going to need money. Because of this, the act of omission has been a hard one for me to accept. The good news is, though, there are many ways I can act that involve not spending my money, but placing it into something that will grow and expand it. I am still looking for the best answer and debating if it means the stock market, cds, real estate, or whatever other investing opportunities there are out there. All I’m learning is that it’s better to have my money in the form of an investment rather than a candy bar. For the candy bar lasts 5 minutes, while the investment can last a lifetime. And, let’s say in two days I need that money to help pay some unexpected bill off, I’m so glad that my money is not in the form of digested chocolate but as an investment that I can sell to receive my real money from.

The time to invest is now. We’ve been hearing these words for quite some time now, and we’re just not sure we want to jump into such an unstable economy. Despite this, these words ring true. Looking at the economy right now we see real estate prices dropping and stock market rates lower than they have been for decades. If we have enough money for a down-payment on a home, and steady income, then this is the perfect time to get into real estate. We know that prices will go up again, especially in the real estate market because it is never a bad thing to own a home. The thing we must be cautious of is buying without a stable income. If, though, we do have that, then real estate is the answer.

The more you own the higher your net worth and the younger you start the longer you have to exponentially grow your assets. This market is actually perfect for those who are just starting out if they can find work. As long as you have money coming in, then you can and should be investing it. And, pices are so low right now that you can invest the same amount of money into more things than you could have last year.

Another thing to consider when times are hard is inflation. There will be inflation so it is wise to change your money from paper into something that will go up with the value of the dollar.
